Heron Bay Builders has teamed with Bill and Cindy Haase of Handy Hays Handyman Service, Certified Green Professionals through the National Association of Home Builders and Remodelers, to build a new home that will be on the front lines of Energy Efficiency and Environmental Friendliness in Worcester County.

There are many features that make this home energy and environmentally outstanding. The home features a Solarium with a slate floor to harness the passive solar energy from sunlight, the use of thermostatic radiant barrier sheathing, a high efficiency geothermal heating and cooling system, an extremely high R – value building envelope – using the igloo cooler concept, and all Energy Star Appliances, Lighting, and Plumbing Hardware to name a few.

The home cuts pollutants with such features as a Sealed Fireplace, Staged Exhaust Fans, Green Label Flooring, and no VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Paints. The carbon footprint of the home is also lessened by using recycled materials and longer lasting materials.

Heron Bay Builders is very excited to be working on this project with Mr. and Mrs. Haase CGP, to help have a positive impact on the environment. Heron Bay President Mark Smith has built many fine homes in Ocean Pines and the surrounding areas and is pleased to add an energy efficient home to the list.
